Where It Works

Oilfield Nitrogen Truck Applications

From well completion to emergency intervention, the Vance Petro nitrogen truck delivers critical nitrogen services across every stage of oil and gas operations.

🔩

Well Completion & Stimulation

Nitrogen is injected during well completion to displace kill fluids, minimize formation damage, and reduce hydrostatic pressure — enabling faster and safer well startup with higher productivity.

💥

Hydraulic Fracturing Support

Used as a fracturing fluid carrier or energizing agent in foam fracturing operations. Nitrogen reduces fluid loss, increases fracture width, and significantly improves recovery in low-pressure reservoirs.

📏

Pressure Testing & Leak Detection

Inert nitrogen gas is used for hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing of pipelines, wellheads, valves, BOPs, and production tubing — offering a safe, non-corrosive alternative to water or flammable gases.

🔄

Wellbore Cleanout & Displacement

High-pressure nitrogen effectively cleans accumulated sand, debris, and liquid slugs from the wellbore, restoring production flow and eliminating the need for costly intervention workovers.

🚀

Gas Lift Operations

Nitrogen injection as a gas lift medium helps maintain reservoir pressure and lifts heavy crude oil to surface in mature, low-energy wells — extending the productive life of aging fields economically.

🛡️

Inert Blanketing & Fire Prevention

Nitrogen blanketing of storage tanks, separators, and processing vessels prevents oxidation, eliminates explosive vapor-air mixtures, and protects flammable hydrocarbons during maintenance or transfer operations.

🔧

Pipeline Purging & Commissioning

Before commissioning or decommissioning pipelines, nitrogen purging safely displaces oxygen and flammable gases, eliminating explosion risk and ensuring a clean, dry internal environment ready for service.

Coiled Tubing Nitrogen Services

Paired with coiled tubing units for underbalanced drilling, wellbore unloading, and matrix acidizing operations — nitrogen injection controls bottom-hole pressure and enables continuous drilling without killing the well.

🌍

EOR — Enhanced Oil Recovery

In mature fields, nitrogen injection into the reservoir maintains or increases reservoir pressure, sweeps residual oil toward production wells, and significantly improves the overall recovery factor from depleted formations.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about oilfield nitrogen trucks before making your purchase decision.

What is a nitrogen truck and how does it work in oilfield operations?
A nitrogen truck is a mobile, self-contained unit that stores liquid nitrogen (LN₂) in an insulated cryogenic tank and converts it to high-pressure gaseous nitrogen on demand via a cryogenic pump and vaporizer system. In oilfield operations, it is used to inject nitrogen into wellbores, pipelines, and surface equipment for a wide range of services including well stimulation, pressure testing, wellbore cleanout, gas lift, and inert blanketing. The truck drives directly to the wellsite, connects to the wellhead or pipeline, and delivers nitrogen at precisely controlled pressures and flow rates.
What is the typical working pressure range of your nitrogen trucks?
Our standard nitrogen truck models offer working pressures ranging from 15 MPa (2,175 psi) up to 105 MPa (15,228 psi) depending on the pump configuration selected. For most well completion, pressure testing, and coiled tubing applications, a 70 MPa (10,000 psi) rated unit is the most popular choice. Ultra-high-pressure models at 105 MPa are available for deep well stimulation and hydraulic fracturing support. All pressure ratings can be customized to your specific well conditions and wellhead equipment ratings.
Can the nitrogen truck be customized for specific project requirements?
Absolutely. Customization is one of our core strengths at Vance Petro. We can tailor virtually every aspect of the unit to your project needs, including:
  • Working pressure and maximum flow rate
  • Liquid nitrogen tank capacity (5 m³ to 30 m³+)
  • Chassis brand and drive configuration (6×4, 8×4, 10×6)
  • Engine power source (diesel, PTO, or electric motor drive)
  • Truck-mounted vs. skid-mounted vs. trailer-mounted configurations
  • Cold-weather packages for arctic operations (down to -50°C)
  • Control system language, safety interlocks, and data logging requirements
  • Compliance with local regulations (ATEX, API, CE, etc.)

Send us your technical requirements and our engineering team will provide a detailed proposal within 48 hours.

What is the difference between a truck-mounted and skid-mounted nitrogen unit?
Truck-mounted units integrate all components — LN₂ tank, pump, vaporizer, control system, and engine — onto a heavy-duty vehicle chassis. They are self-propelled, highly mobile, and ideal for operations that require frequent relocation between wellsites.

Skid-mounted units house all the same components on a structural steel skid frame and are transported to site by a flatbed trailer or crane-lifted into position. They are preferred when the unit will remain at a fixed location for extended periods, for offshore platform installations, or in regions where road conditions make heavy truck operation impractical. Skid units typically offer easier integration with permanent facility infrastructure.
What is your delivery lead time and what countries do you export to?
Standard configuration nitrogen trucks are typically ready for shipment within 45 – 60 days from order confirmation and deposit receipt. Fully customized units with special pressure ratings, chassis configurations, or cold-weather packages are delivered within 60 – 90 days.

We export to over 50 countries worldwide, with particularly strong presence in the Middle East (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iraq, Oman, Kuwait), Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan), Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam), Africa (Nigeria, Angola, Algeria, Libya), and Latin America (Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador). All units ship FOB Tianjin Port with full export documentation.
What after-sales support and warranty do you provide?
Every Vance Petro nitrogen truck comes with a 12-month warranty covering manufacturing defects on all major components. Our after-sales support package includes:
  • Comprehensive operation and maintenance manuals (English + local language on request)
  • Video-guided installation and commissioning support
  • On-site commissioning by our engineers (available globally, additional cost)
